The design of this anti downdraught chimney cowl harnesses the wind force around the chimney to produce a positive upward draught which ensures that smoke and gasses are drawn up the flue. This design therefore helps with any smoke blowback problems. The chimney cowl also prevents rain and snow entry, ventilates when not in use and reduces condensation.
Application(s)
  • Suitable for solid fuel chimneys only. Solid fuel being coal, smokeless fuel and wood

  • If burning gas or oil you require the Colt Top Cowl (for all fuels) as it comes supplied with a birdguard. Quick Link

  • This cowl comes in red only. If you require a buff or aluminium colour you will need to purchase the Colt Top (for All Fuels).

Installation

Place the cowl over the chimney pot, secure in position by tightening the four wing nuts evenly.

Cured Downdraft
I use a Stovax Stockton Milner multi fuel stove. Good unit which is now 12 years old. Always struggled with downdrafts on. Days when wind direction is East. Tried several cowls over years and also ran with no cowl. This one was bought as a final throw of the dice. And I am delighted to report that it has solved my issues 100%! Quality product light weight, great service, easy to fit. No negatives. No downdrafts, especially delighted as got it fitted and tested well and truly just before the Beast from the East arrived. Just ensure you check if strap and or bird guard are needed as it isn’t obvious from web info. Customer service is A1, I will buy again from this company without hesitation

good product arrived within days of ordering, had call from office to update me on availability, would recommend oiling screw and fully tightening wing nuts whilst on terra firma as thread was very tight,and not ideal job todo whilst on roof..
